Urge & Mixed Urinary Incontinence
Understanding urgency. Finding practical support.
A sudden need to pass urine, difficulty reaching the toilet in time or unexpected bladder leakage can affect everyday confidence.
Urge incontinence is leakage associated with a sudden, strong need to urinate. It may occur alongside other overactive bladder symptoms, such as needing the toilet frequently or waking during the night to pass urine.
Mixed incontinence combines urgency-related leakage with stress incontinence — leakage when coughing, sneezing, lifting or exercising.
An assessment by your GP or continence specialist can help identify the cause and appropriate treatment. Depending on your needs, this may include bladder training, pelvic-floor support, changes to everyday habits or medication.
My Pelvic Health offers information and practical continence products to help manage leakage alongside your treatment plan.
Managing Leakage and Treating Urgency
Continence products help manage urine leakage, but they do not treat the underlying cause of urgency. Speak to your GP or continence specialist about assessment and treatment, including whether bladder training or other options could help.
